Brittany .. The Emerald Coast. .. France with a Celtic history

Brittany is one third of the French coastline and it's friendly atmosphere and rustic beauty have long made it popular with the British.

The Breton people have their own Celtic language .. and the Breton flag (black and white) flutters alongside a long history of Pagan Celtic Legends and Christian Saints.

The Breton menu combines fresh seafood like mussels, oysters, crabs and lobster .. savoury galettes of cream, bacon, cheese and mushroom .. and cider, wine and strong ales.

At the fishing resort of Cancale you can eat oysters and mussels fresh from the sea with a glass of wine or cider.

The World Heritage site of Mont St Michel offers some of the best views in France and is well worth a day visit.

The up market cities of Dinard and the fortified port of St Malo face each other across the bay and in summer attract the smart crowds from the Channel Islands and Paris.

Inland you will find pretty villages often built around a granite church .. and further inland you will find ancient standing stones and forests.

The English language is widely spoken (and of course French speakers can practice their French ) .. making Brittany a part of France that many people visit and re-visit again.

The house for rent is within 20 to 30 minutes drive of all the towns and sites mentioned above.
